The days are finally getting longer and lighter, so our gardens and balconies will be a bit more comfortable and fun to spend time in. If you want to give your outside space the best soundtrack – whether your relaxing or partying – then it’s time to get a garden speaker set up. So which speakers are right for you? Find out more about the different speaker types below…
- Wireless outdoor speakers
You will no doubt have heard of wireless speakers like the Sonos Roam, which are small in size but able to deliver great levels of sound. They have wireless Bluetooth connectivity and often have Alexa and Google Assistant capability. Designed to be transported everywhere, they are also shock-proof, so if things get a bit too exciting, the party won’t stop. They are perfect for outdoor events and give a more affordable and convenient option.
- Wall mounted outdoor speakers
As the name suggests, this type of speaker is designed to be mounted on a wall, which comes with lots of benefits – the first one being they are out of the way. You will be used to their shape as they are more traditional, with a bookshelf speaker look, but wall mounted. They are ideal for smaller areas or can be used as part of a linked system across the outdoor space. They can even be mounted on a fence or pergola post – for example in your hot tub space.
- Rock speakers
The sneakiest speakers of all, rock speakers are designed to camouflage with your garden, blending with your plants. They also have weather-resistant casing to get through those harsher weather events.
- Landscape / Spike Outdoor Speakers
In much the same way, landscape or spike speakers are also designed to blend in with your garden, and are most often placed into the ground with spikes. They can also be wall mounted and are great for larger outdoor areas – once again, they can become part of a series of different speakers, working together.
- Weatherproof Ceiling Speakers
Do you have eaves over the windows of your home? Outdoor ceiling speakers are designed to be mounted in this kind of space, or other garden structures. While they will be in weather-resistant casing, the ceiling will help to ensure that they are protected.
- Pendant Outdoor Speakers
Much like hanging pendant lights, pendant speakers suspend from above and are suitable for high ceilings, offering a surprising addition to the garden. Great for pergolas, gazebos and eaves.
- Outdoor Subwoofers
Another sneaky addition, outdoor subwoofers can be buried under the ground or mounted above the surface, for low frequency support, and other paired speakers providing the mid and high range. Subwoofers will also need a powerful amp to run them.
Whatever your garden speaker aims and requirements, there is a set up for every outdoor space. If you would like to gain an understanding of what would work in your setting, we offer a free, no obligation consultation so you can see what would work or you before you buy.
