Santa’s coming! Christmas is almost here, and it’s time for your yearly watch of Elf, which you can catch once again on Sky Cinema and NOW TV. In terms of TV, there are Christmas specials to look forward to, if you fancy a laugh, with A League of Their Own and Never Mind the Buzzcocks – yes, the new series – Alan Carr’s There’s Something About Movies and Rob and Romesh VS. If you love comedians, then be sure to catch the first festive episode of Dating No Filter. Or if you’d like something for all the family, David Walliams has delivered another of his After Ever After series, with an adaptation of the tale of Hansel and Gretel.

Featuring an all-star cast, the Sky Original film The Amazing Mr Blunden is an adaptation of the Antonia Barber novel The Ghosts. It’s set to air on Christmas Eve at 7pm, and stars Mark Gattiss, Simon Callow, Tamsin Greig and others. Sky’s synopsis sums it up with an intriguing teaser: “Within its neglected grounds, Jamie and Lucy have an encounter with what appears to be a pair of ghost children. But these spooky kids, Sara and Georgie, aren’t actually ghosts. They’ve travelled forwards in time to seek help, believing they’re going to be murdered by the wicked Mr and Mrs Wickens. And Lucy and Jamie’s mysterious elderly visitor seems to be the key to it all. With his help, they must travel back to 1821 to save Sara and Georgie and redeem their remorseful new friend – The Amazing Mr Blunden.”

Another Sky Original includes an all-star adaptation of A Boy Called Christmas, Matt Haig’s bestseller. He must be over the moon to see Maggie Smith, Sally Hawkins and Jim Broadbent bring his story to life. A festive heartwarmer comes in the form of another Sky Original, The Last Train to Christmas, starring Martin Sheen. Or if you’re looking for a festive rom com with a music twist, A Christmas Number One could be for you.
