Should you get a triplexer socket with network ports?
Let MediaComs guide you whether it is necessary to get one or not. We can survey your area and make the necessary recommendations, just like what we did in one of the properties in Chingford E4. We installed a triplexer socket (for TV, FM and satellite) with 2x cat5e network ports.
What is a triplexer socket?
In order to combine the signals from the TV aerial (UHF) and a radio aerial (VHF) into a downlead, a diplexer is needed. It is one form of a combiner or splitter that do not require external power. One of the main advantage of having a diplexer is that it allows two devices to share one communication channel — a coaxial cable. This makes the set up more economical because a diplexer costs less than getting another cable.
A diplexer is also used in connecting two receivers to two different aerials that are located at some distance with the use of a single cable. They can also be used as a duplexer that enables bi-directional communication.
If a diplexer allows you to mix two ports into one then it is also possible to mix three ports into one using a device calles a triplexer. It is used to maximize the FM and DAB signal using separate inputs for the TV aerial, FM aerial and DAB aerial.
Most triplexer sockets are stylish and functional. Some are even have color coded terminals so that selection can be a lot easier. There are even those iwth plated straps in order to avoid corrosion and therefore have a higher longetivity.
