Aerial and Dish Install Project

We recently installed a TV aerial and a satellite dish on a chimney. We used a Fracarro log periodic aerial and a Sky dish with Octo LNB.

Fracarro Log Periodic Aerial

A log periodic aerial is a type of aerial that is used when a range of frequencies is needed. It is often used for UHF digital reception except of course if the property is located in an area where the signal coming from the transmitter is weak. Mechanically, this type of aerial is simple and not very expensive compared to other types. A log periodic aerial may have less gain however, you wouldn’t need a balun in order to get that digital reception.

Fracarro is a company that produces high quality log periodic aerials. They have been doing researches and experimentation on TV technology and they aim to develop a system that can transform any building into an ‘intelligent’ space. Their log periodic aerial is already pre-assembled so it is easier to install even without the use of any additional accessories.

Sky dish with Octo LNB

The Sky dish was installed with an Octo LNB (low noise block downconverter).  The LNB is seen mounted on the satellite dish. What it does is it collects the radio waves from the dish. The device is able to connect to up to 8 satellite receivers so it makes it ideal for multi room set ups. This is also suitable for Sky or Freesat.
